Cycle
of Studies
The “Cycle of Studies” provides a coherent program for any student who seeks an introduction to the tapestry of Scripture, tradition, and reason that characterizes the Anglican expression of Christianity. We begin in the present, as we consider the nature of worship and the Spirit’s promptings expressed in and through our daily lives. We are dedicated to exploring the faith, to articulating the difference faith makes in our lives. The sequence of courses within the “Cycle of Studies” then moves backward in time to examine two formative periods in church history. We consider the contents of the Holy Scriptures and the contexts in which they were formed. We explore basic issues in the study of theology and ethics and social analysis. The Cycle concludes by inviting students to engage in theological reflection and spiritual gifts identification. These practices encourage students to integrate learning more fully with their ongoing ministries and spiritual development. Courses in the “Cycle of Studies” are open to all people. We hope through study, conversation, and prayer to develop ministerial self-awareness in all our students and to provide opportunities for exercising more fully the gifts received at baptism. We seek to encourage renewal of faith, refreshment in ministry, and relational engagement with others committed to study and growth. We strongly recommend taking classes in the Cycle in the order in which they are offered. One important benefit for many students is participation in a developing community, and enrollment in the entire sequence of courses provides maximal opportunity for fellowship in faith. However, students interested in particular courses may take them at any time. It is also possible to audit courses. However, because of space limitations, students enrolled in the full “Cycle of Studies” have priority in registration. We invite you to consider the offerings describe and to imagine how your own ministry may be strengthened through your participation in the Cycle. We hope that you will be inspired to join us in study, in prayer, and in community, so that you may grow in faithfulness and love. We look forward to welcoming you to the program!
