| children's ministry Faith Formation Children’s Ministry Committee A committee of children's ministry leaders, representing congregations around the diocese, meets quarterly to empower, equip, support and nurture the ministry to the youngest members of the Body of Christ. The committee guide is A Children's Charter for the Church including nurture of the child, ministry to the child and ministry of the child. More information about the charter and ministry to children and youth can be found on the web site of the National Episcopal Church at www.ecusa.anglican.org/myp. This committee provides training and continuing education for children's ministry leaders and teachers throughout the diocese on a variety of subjects including child abuse prevention. It serves as a network for children's leaders in the diocese for support and resource sharing. The committee takes leadership in the design and promotion of Cathedral Day, an annual diocesan multi-generational event at St. Mark's Cathedral where children lead the way. | commission on church architecture The Commission on Church Architecture is a volunteer group of construction professionals working with clergy and the diocesan Treasurer that provides free advice and consultation for congregations and institutions involved with building and construction projects. With the diocese being the official owner of a mission’s project, the commission, and then the Board of Directors, must grant approval to commence with any project. Parishes, however, are legally responsible for their own projects. Therefore, diocesan canons require parishes to present all projects to the commission for review. In any case, its main objective is to protect the interests of congregations as well as those of the diocese. Mark Anderson |
commission for ethnic ministries The Commission for Ethnic Ministries aims to raise up people of color so that congregations are more balanced reflections of their communities by addressing racism and celebrating the richness of diversity, helping to make all people feel comfortable in our pews. The commission works to promote the health and development of a culturally and ethnically diverse diocese by expanding communities, developing leadership of color and building bridges for the Church in the future. Its sub-entities are the African-American Committee, Anti-Racism Training Task Force (ARTTF), Cambodian Ministry, Chinese Ministry, First Nations Committee, Hispanic Ministry and Sudanese Ministry. | commission for evangelism The Commission for Evangelism’s purpose is to equip the congregations of the diocese to share the good news of Jesus Christ with others and to remain accountable to God and the diocese. It offers annual financial assistance to congregation members to attend Start Up! Start Over!, a national conference on congregation growth, and sponsors the annual Bring A Friend to Church Sunday. The commission also is helping underwrite the clergy salary and some program expenses for Church of the Apostles (COTA), a specialized ministry to unchurched Gen-X and post-modern generations, in partnership with the NW Washington Lutheran Synod of the ELCA. The Sunday morning Television Eucharist is a long-standing program of the commission, reaching nearly 4500 viewers weekly. Carl Knirk |

| commission for faith formation The Commission for Faith Formation annually offers two Junior High Youth Conferences (JYCs) and three High School Youth Conferences (HYCs) as well as a week-long High School Conference (6-Day). Over 150 volunteers assist in these events. Young adult weekend retreats with themes focusing on leading a Christian life are also offered. Training events for children, youth leaders and teachers are another aspect of this ministry. Kathy Hamilton |

| commission on ministry The Commission on Ministry provides resources and assistance to congregations and individuals in discerning how God is calling them to live out their baptismal ministry. This can include, but is not limited to, ordained ministry. The Commission on Ministry is made up of nine members appointed by the Bishop, a representative from the Standing Committee and the Bishop. The membership is a mix of clergy (deacons/priests) and lay, male and female. Appointments are for three-year terms; members can be reappointed for a second term. Carla Robinson |

community of the paraclete The Community of the Paraclete is a contemporary religious order of the Episcopal Church. In this diocese we are centered at St. Stephen's Priory, Seattle. Our ministries include working in diocesan programs such as the Cultural and Racial Unity Committee, history programs, hospital chaplain, AIDS care giving, parish retreat and study programs and spiritual counseling.
