evangelism, commission for The Commission for Evangelism’s purpose is to equip the congregations of the diocese to share the good news of Jesus Christ with others and to remain accountable to God and the diocese. It offers annual financial assistance to congregation members to attend Start Up! Start Over!, a national conference on congregation growth, and sponsors the annual Bring A Friend to Church Sunday. The commission also is helping underwrite the clergy salary and some program expenses for Church of the Apostles (COTA), a specialized ministry to unchurched Gen-X and post-modern generations, in partnership with the NW Washington Lutheran Synod of the ELCA. The Sunday morning Television Eucharist is a long-standing program of the commission, reaching nearly 4500 viewers weekly. Carl Knirk |
